The Charlotte County Fire and EMS is building an ongoing eligibility list for Firefighter/EMT. Candidates will need both FireTEAM and NTN CPAT testing for this position. To be considered for this round of hiring, all testing through National Testing Network (NTN) must be completed by March 27, 2015.
Salary Information: $41,408.64 - $62,142.08

Department Information: Charlotte County Fire and EMS covers just less than 700 square miles from 16 stations. We are a combined Fire and Emergency Medical Service deploying 12 ALS Rescues and 13 Engines, 8 of these ALS. We are adding 2 Rescues to the fleet in October 2013.
Opportunities include Marine Operations, Special Operations (hazmat, confined space, high angle rescue, trench rescue and structural collapse), and ARFF (Airport Rescue Firefighting).
This is skilled firefighting work involving the protection of life and property through firefighting and rescue operations and emergency medical work utilizing the policies, procedures and treatment protocols of the Medical Director. Work may be performed under the supervision of a Paramedic but may require individual and team action of all medical requirements exclusive of those Paramedic duties as defined.

College: No, but 2 year degree preferred
Academy Certification:
State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician certification; current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider, and Florida State Firefighter certification. Valid certification and maintenance of an approved 16 hour E.V.O.C.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
oA thorough knowledge and practical ability to perform the duties and medical practices as detailed in the EMT curriculum and the standards as set forth by the State of Florida.
oThorough knowledge of emergency medical practices, procedures, techniques and protocols.
oThorough understanding of the methods and principles of fire fighting, fire prevention, rescue and first aid techniques.
oKnowledge of all standards as set forth by the State of Florida in Florida Statutes, Chapter 401, and Florida Administrative Code 64J-1 relative to function.
oKnowledge of all Firefighter duty standards as set forth by N.F.P.A. 1001.
oAbility to make sound judgments concerning the proper use of emergency medical aid.
oAbility to effectively communicate with people and establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
