A Day in the Life:
This position is primarily responsible for supporting the indirect tax compliance function for our North American operations.
This position reports directly to the Vice President, Global Indirect Tax through the Director, Indirect Tax.
The starting salary for this role is $80K; commensurate with experience.
What You'll Do:
Oversee the preparation and filing of sales, use, and excise tax returns for the Hertz Corporation and its affiliatesMaintain the monthly compliance calendar and ensure that returns are prepared in a timely and accurate mannerCompile and summarize data necessary for the completion of all returnsInitiate payment requests and verify that payments are timely Prepare monthly property tax accruals and manage the cash forecast for property tax paymentsRespond to information requests, inquiries and questions from both external and internal sourcesPrepare general ledger account reconciliations and account analysis in accordance with company accounting standardsPrepare monthly journal entries as neededStay abreast of rate changes, law changes and/or other policy changes that impact indirect tax collection and complianceIdentify and implement process improvementsAddress tax bills/renewals/other correspondence in timely matter.
Assist with other projects as needed at the direction of Director, Indirect TaxWhat We're Looking For:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; advanced degree preferred 2-5 years of experience, either in-house or in a public accounting/law firm settingProficient in Microsoft Office, with emphasis in ExcelFamiliar with tax-technical research and writing preferredStrong communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise mannerDetail oriented and very analyticalStrong organization skills Candidate must be able to assume accountability for assigned tasksAbility to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timelinessCan do attitude with a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when under time constraintsWhat You'll Get:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
